My Blue Period

Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée is on Market!

If you have 50 million dollars to spend, it’s time for you to save this date: 28 February.
Sotheby’s in London is thrilled to offer Pablo Picasso’s Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée (1937) at its Impressionist and Modern art event. The painting has never been seen on the market before and it’s definitely going to be the event’s centerpiece!
Helena Newman, Sotheby’s Europe Co-Head, said during an interview:
“With such a strong appetite for Picasso’s work from across the globe, this defining portrait from a pivotal year in the oeuvre of the most globally recognised artist is the perfect piece to headline our first major auction season of 2018”.

Adding more value to the painting is undoubtedly the fact that the piece seems exploring Picasso’s feelings for two of his greatest muses. Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée, indeed, it is the result of the constant presence of Marie-Thérèse Walter, his muse and lover from 1927 to 1935, and the the beginning of the new relationship with Dora Maar.
